I am a Senior AI Scientist at GE HealthCare, working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, computer vision, and medical AI. I received my Ph.D. from the Amarnath and Shashi Khosla School of Information Technology at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi , where I was advised by Prof. Chetan Arora and Prof. Prem Kumar Kalra. My doctoral research focused on automating the assessment of microscopic and endoscopic neurosurgical skills.
My research has explored AI-based assessment of microsuturing, microdrilling, and endoscopic surgical skills, along with surgical instrument instance segmentation and temporal action segmentation. This work has resulted in 25+ publications in international conferences and journals, including MICCAI, ICIP, WACV, and NSC, as well as the development of multiple datasets and AI frameworks for minimally invasive neurosurgical skill assessment.
I was also a chief inventor of "NeuroMentor", an AI-based neurosurgical skills evaluation and training system. The system received the Modi Prix Galien India Award for Best Academic/Public Sector Innovation and is being used in the Neurosurgery Training and Simulation Lab at AIIMS, New Delhi.
I earned my B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from B. V. Bhoomaraddi College of Engineering and Technology, Hubballi in 2018, graduating with a 9.84 CGPA and a Gold Medal. During my undergraduate studies, I worked on motion deblurring as part of a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) course and on classification of crowd-sourced images as my capstone project under the supervision of Prof. Uma Mudenagudi.
